Of all the tasks God called his prophets to, surely Hosea’s was the most difficult of all. His devastating re-enactment of Israel’s unfaithfulness was meant to serve as a stark illustration of what happens when our hearts and minds are swept away by anything or anyone other than God.

When Enemies Become Friends

When people mistreat those in need, they put themselves in opposition to God, which isn’t usually a good idea. And so the Old Testament is full of strong language about the fate of those who oppose God, but the language gets even stronger as the pages of Scripture unfold.
